Nothing can seem so disconcerting as the onset of acne. Whether as an adolescent or as an adult, outbreaks can cause great psychological distress to the sufferer, and treatments will always be sought out. Unfortunately, many acne treatment plans are simply not going to work.

Let us clear up some misconceptions about pimples and what causes them. Outbreaks are not caused by the foods you eat. No known food, whether it is chocolate, greasy french fries, pizza, ice cream, doughnuts, or any other sugary sweet and fatty treats are proven to cause pimples. They may cause an unhealthy glow, but not zits.

That grievous zit was not caused by your sex life, or your lack of one. Sex may make you happier, but your skin does not really care about it one way or another, other than the occasional healthy glow affect. The persistent sex myths are probably the result of teenaged obsessions with all things sexual, as with those kids all things are sexual. But they remain a myth all the same.

Not washing your face enough will not cause breakouts. How many dirty people have you met who have clear skin? And how many do you know that seem to intensify the problem with their incessant face scrubbing? There is the proof right there, but in an overall sense, bathing is a very good thing to do.

What cause acne are bacteria, period. Bacteria that are produced by the skin get in the pores and create cysts and pockets of pus, and that becomes what you see on the surface. As unsightly and painful as it may be, pimples are nothing more than a bacterial infection of particular parts of the skin.

To avoid this problem in the future you want to get started killing the bacteria now. Mind you, a healthy eating plan will help because it is good for your general health and well being. A good sex life may help because it is invigorating and makes people happy. Staying clean is always good manners and is good for you, period. But bacteria may scoff at these measures.

The way to rid your self of problems pimples is to attack the bacteria that cause it. This takes specific medication designed to attack bacteria. For this medication you will need a prescription, so see a doctor for an acne treatment, not an advertisement. Yes, eating the right foods will help, as will staying clean, but these are for overall health anyways. Your pimples need medical attention.
